Corrections & updates
A useful record includes what changed and why.
Last updated October 14, 2026
Substantive corrections
When a factual error is established, the affected article should be corrected and carry a dated note explaining the material change. An update timestamp alone is not a substitute for explaining a substantive error.
Developing stories
When a proposal becomes law, event details change, or a source publishes new information, the article may receive an update with new sourcing. Updates should not erase the distinction between what was known originally and what changed later.
Minor edits
Spelling, formatting and broken-link repairs that do not change the meaning may be made without a correction note.
